Time for some big changes in our lives

It has been a long time since I (Gina) sat down to update our blog. Things have been pretty busy for us since we decided to buy a home again and lay down new roots in Arkansas in February. More on that in a separate blog post.
This moth of August 2021 has seen a lot of changes for us. It started with the decision to sell "Gus's Bus". It was a hard decision to make, but with 2 cancers scares that I had and 1 unexpected surgery for me, we decided it was time to look into selling our "Home away from home".

It is not good for a big Diesel motorhome to sit idle and not get used, so we put her up for sale and yesterday her new owners from Ohio came to pick her up! We gave the new owner a crash course in diesel motorhomes, (1st time buyer) and a couple hours later sent him on his way.. We wish him many happy and safe travels!!

Another big thing that happened this month was, Gus got some of his hearing back!! Well, with the help of hearings aids of course! Gus had spinal meningitis when he was 18 months old that nearly killed him. What it mostly did was take away his hearing with nerve damage. He has been declared legally deaf for a quite awhile and has tried hearing aids over the years, and all they did was increase noise. He made an appointment the beginning of August when our insurance company sent a letter stating they would help pay for some. Well a couple weeks ago he got the gift of hearing!! He is hearing some things for the 1st time in his life!! His 1st comment was "I can hear myself talk!" and the big thing to me was, I stood behind him and spoke in a normal voice 5 feet away and he heard me!!! He could never hear me from behind! Praise God for new technology !!
The next big thing we decided to do was trade in our beloved 2014 Harley Limited and go to a trike. It was a hard decision to make, we have some wonderful memories on the 14 Ultra, the last big one was our trip to North Carolina and Tennessee last month and riding the Dragons Tail!

We have been taking about it for almost a year, and when our flag mount broke a couple months ago we really started talking about it!

It was a hard decision and the inventory for the 2021 trikes is very low , but we found one that was on its way from the factory and our local Harley dealer made us a fair offer for the trade in so we decided to do it!!
Here is our new 2021 Harley Tri Glide Ultra!!

It seems that everything we buy a new Harley there is less that is a "standard" feature. So we are slowly adding accessories. A few where in stock and other or on order.

So a trike is a whole new riding experience! We will be doing alot of riding to get her "broke" in! But one fun thing is, I will be learning how to drive this one!! We are working on getting a new flag mount for the Tri Glide since we are still active with the Patriot Guard Riders as Ride Captains and we are also volunteers with the Missing in America Project and also work with another great Veteran and children organization in Fort Smith called SADA . We do a lot of escorts with them escorting veterans to their finale resting place .
This is our 3rd Harley. We started with a 96 Electra Glide classic that Gus bought used in 2002

We did many miles and years on the 96, that evolution motor was the best!

In 2014 they redesigned the Harley dresser and with a short test ride we were hooked!! We did out 4500 miles on 2 week ride up through Idaho, Washington and back down the West coast on her! We figure we have ridden close to 80, 000 miles together over the years!! Gus has ridden over 100,000 total!!
We look forward to the next 80,000!!!

Thank you!
Awesome story I am so glad you guys seem to be so happy together
