What were we thinking?
So around the middle of April Gus was over in Laughlin and just decided to "Check out" what was on the lot of the RV joint. They had just taken this 40 ft Holiday Rambler diesel pusher in on trade. Once he stepped inside of it he knew he was in trouble! Not only does it have his favorite colors on the outside , but the inside was like brand new! He chatted with the sales guy for awhile and then came home right before I got home from work. So I get home and he says "lets go for a drive" , where to??? ( as I give him one of those looks like, what are you up to now!) LOL, So we head over there and once I walked into it I knew we were in trouble. I just kinda looked around in awe and said, "really?" Gus was like, "yup". After talking to the sales guy for awhile we walked around a bit and decided to put a deposit on it. We went home and I jumped on the computer to research these things. Cars and motorcycle and even boats we know alot about, but nothing about these really big things! I did find that there really were no others ones similar to this one, in this good of condition, with this low of miles for the money. Sooooo, we decided , what the heck, we are not getting any younger, lets do this and enjoy it while we are young enough to enjoy it! We went back the next day and signed papers!
We took delivery of our new adventure on April 23rd 2019! and after much thought we decided to name it "Gus's Bus"!!

Where to park it??!!
After deciding to purchase this new chapter in our life, came the thought of, "where are we going to park it?" . Gus started measuring the side yard, every which way you can. Our side yard is at an angle to get into, so I was pretty sure it was not going to fit, but Gus was very sure it would. I started looking at places where we could store it locally. We found a decent one not too far from the house, but not within eye sight at all. So we reserved that one "Just in case". On April 23rd we finally got to pick up Gus's Bus! We drove it home, I got out to "spot" and Gus started backing her in. As you can see from the photo below we almost had it!! What you can not see is, is that the palm tree on the other side of the motorhome was about 2 inches away and the corner of the roof of the garage was about 1 inch away! Motorhomes do not "pivot" at all. So we left it there for the time being. In our HOA , motorhomes are suppose to be behind a gate or fence, not in the driveway like it is. We discussed calling the place we were going to store it and drop it off the next day there. Then Gus says, "You know, the neighbor has RV parking and not using it, I'm going to ask him if we can rent it". Sounded good to me, even though we didn't know him that well yet, but , what the heck, all he can say is "No".
Gus went next door to speak to him and after about 45 minutes come home and says "done"! I'm like "really"? and our awesome neighbor Rick said we could park it there for as long as we like for "Nothing"!! Thank God for great neighbors!!! WOW!!
We had plans for our 1st camping trip so we just left it in our driveway for the couple days and then parked it next door when we got home. We are so grateful for our awesome neighbor and hope we can repay him somehow along the way!!

Almost fit

Perfect fit next door!
