On Saturday Oct. 19th we finally did something we have always wanted to do since moving here 8 years ago! We took the London Bridge Jet Boat down to Lake Havasu! We had the most incredibly beautiful day! Full sun, blue skies, little clouds and no Wind!! The "W" word is a four letter word around here, lol! When you live in a river valley you will get windy days more often then not.

We started the day at the dock at the Edgewater Casino. We checked in at the little red hut on the riverwalk, then went to the dock to wait to board. There were a bunch of really great people on our boat and we had some great conversations while we were waiting to board.

After boarding our captain, Jamie Gustafson ( same last name, no relation) gave us a few safety tips and handed out a tour book that highlights things we will see along the way.

We then took off down river for a "2 hour tour" ( I know you have the Gilligans Island theme stuck in your head now!) LOL . The Total trip is 2 hours to Lake Havasu, 2 hours in Lake Havasu and 2 hours back. It is a 58 mile trip each way. These boats are really nice, clean, comfortable and run perfectly.

As you go along down river, Jamie, our captain makes sure to point out highlights along the way. There is so much to see I will just highlight on some of it.

The area is known for great fishing, from rainbow trout, to large mouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill and black crappie.

As we travel further down the river we come up to Big Bend State Park in Nevada.

This is a beautiful little state park on the river with great beaches! It was quiet when we went by, it is October and not as busy. In the heat of the summer the park usually fills up by 10 am! They also just had a fire in the park recently but it is coming back nicely!

We continue down river on this beautiful day, the water is so clear! It is always nice and clear since it is always being released at Davis Damn from Lake Mohave. That will be a whole other blog post in the future.

As we get down a ways you come up to the Avi Resort and Casino. This is owned by the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe and has a beautiful beach and launch area!

After going past the Avi, it is a couple miles before you get to Topock. This is where Topock 66 restaurant and bar are located right on Route 66 . You can also get fuel here.

Right where Topock 66 is you come up to the railroad tracks and Interstate 40 and the entrance to Topock gorge.

Once in Topock gorge you will find the most beautiful part of the trip. The water is the most beautiful color of turquoise and the rock formations are incredible!

When you exit Topock gorge you are a short distance from Lake Havasu. As you enter Lake Havasu you will see a small town on the west side of the lake called Havasu landing. This is home to the Chemehuevi Indian Reservation and they have a casino there as well .

As we keep going south on the lake we come up to the Bridgewater Channel. There is alot of history here that I will do in a different blog post.

We got to spend 2 hours at the London bridge so we decided to have lunch at Barley Brothers. Always a good choice! We walked around and over the bridge a bit on this beautiful day! Here are some pictures of the area.

After 2 hours we boarded again to head back up river. On the way back the captain explained some petroglyphs that we could see from the boat and the natural arch.

Can you spot the Sunburst?

Natural arch they call the " Dragon" As it resembles the eye of the dragon

We then head back into Topock Gorge. This area is amazing! The color of the water is just incredible and there are a few sand bars where you can "hang out" and relax.

While we were in the gorge Captain Gustafson also let those of us that wanted to come up to where he was and check out the view

As you leave the gorge you head back up river to Laughlin.

Here are some videos of homes and condos on the river in Bullhead City AZ

Bullhead City also has a couple beautiful parks right on the river and great beaches!! Rotary Park (the long video) and Community park.

It was then time to head back to the dock. 6 hours total, 2 to Lake Havasu, 2 hours there and 2 hours back. It was a beautiful day to do this and we are blessed we got to see the other side of the Gorge we had never seen before from the water. We had been on most of the river but not all the way to Lake Havasu! No matter if your a tourist or a local we highly recommend taking the London Bridge jet Boat Cruise! https://laughlinboattours.com/

There also have other adventures and cruises to choose from!

The end of a perfect day and great excursion!
